Manila Luzon says the Philippines is ‘on the right track’ when it comes to LGBT acceptance

Drag queen Manila Luzon has shared what she thinks about the level of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) acceptance in the Philippines.

In an online interview with the press on Wednesday, the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star said she had always felt loved and accepted whenever she visited the country.

“The Filipino people are so fabulous and welcoming. I don’t know how anyone walks down the street without being invited in for some food,” she told GMA News Online.

“I feel like the Philippines is on the right track for more acceptance and loving each other,” she added, saying that this was especially true for the LGBT community.

With many Filipinos raised to be conservative and faithful, Manila said religion should serve as a way for more people to be accepting of others.

“We’re taught with our religion to love each other and that’s what it’s all about. I think we all have the capabilities of loving everyone around us,” she said.

“Let’s do it with some glitter on it and have a rave,” added the reality show personality.

For those who were still struggling with their identities, meanwhile, Manila said it was essential to accept one’s true self first.

“I know it’s hard but come to terms with it yourself and then everything will fall into place. Once you accept and love yourself, everything around you just happens,” she said.

“The things that don’t (happen), they weren’t meant to be,” she added.
